Cave of the Mounds is named of the nearby Blue Mounds, and the entrance is located in the southern slope of the east hill. This cave is one of the most significant in the Midwest, and is known as the "jewel box" of major American caves. As such, it has been designated as a National Natural Landmark. Formations include soda straws, flowstones, curtains, lily pads, helictites, and oolites, among others.
