The Polar Caves are glacially-formed caves consisting of granite blocks. They lake the intricate speleothems that are characteristic of limestone caves, but they are quite durable, and relatively easy to traverse. Most of the caves here at Polar Caves have had steps built in them.
They are so named because it stays cold enough in the deep reaches of the cave to keep snow frozen well into the summer.
