Camping in Minnesota (MN) is all about the lakes. From the shoreline along Lake Superior to the many interior lakes, Minnesota has plenty to offer the avid camper.
The Land of 10,000 Lakes offers campers a variety of topography to enjoy. South and Southwestern Minnesota is prairie land where campers can enjoy spacious camping under a wide open sky. The Southeast provides campsites in forests with a thick tree cover overhead. Head to Northern Minnesota and rolling mountains will come into view and act as a scenic backdrop to wooded campsites. Lake camping is extremely popular along the Lake Superior shoreline and the many lakes located in Minnesota's interior.
Superior National Forest and Chippewa National Forest provide a haven for adventurous campers with campsites along many lakes, ponds, rivers, and wetlands. Eagle Mountain is also nearby which offers scenic mountain top views of Lake Superior. Family-friendly camping is available as is secluded, primitive camping. Check out campgrounds around the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul as well!
