From the Twin Cities to the shores of Lake Superior, Minnesota (MN) hiking offers diverse trails and terrain.
The Land of 10,000 Lakes has trails that span a variety of different terrains. Head to Western and Southwestern Minnesota for paths that lead through wide open prairies and offer a chance to view wildlife. Forests and farmland dominate the southeast where wooded trails are perfect for families with children to enjoy. Head north and hike along the Lake Superior shoreline where trails meander along sandy beaches or under a thick tree canopy.
Superior National Forest is located in Northern Minnesota where you can hike the steep trail to the top of Eagle Mountain. After the challenging hike up, enjoy the scenic mountain top view of Lake Superior. Chippewa National Forest, also close by, provides hikers with miles of trails to lakes, ponds, rivers, and wetlands. Head to Central Minnesota to check out the Twin Cities for popular urban hiking.
