North Missouri offers winding hiking trails that traverse the Northern Plains. Gentle rolling hills provide easy hikes for families with children. Trails run along the Missouri River, which splits the state in half, for scenic river hiking and possibly some fishing or swimming. The Mississippi and Ohio Rivers also flow through Missouri offering hikers more hiking near water.

Find hiking trails meandering through the foothills of the Ozark Mountains, or take steep paths summiting mountains for beautiful panoramic views. Mark Twain National Forest along with other State Parks invite hikers into its vast wilderness for secluded hikes under the tree canopy.
