For a forest service campground this one was okay. It is in a stand of trees so most spots had shade. Rate is up to $17 per night in 2013. It is first come first served and the area is very busy. Hiking is in abundance nearby and there is fishing in Echo Lake. Most sites have very nearby neighbors and HWY 103 is very close by so you will hear traffic noise during the day. Night time was very quiet. Camp was clean and well maintained. Okay for those used to car or rv camping but those looking for solitude should go elsewhere. Also it is very high up so weather can be an issue but the drive is beautiful. Echo lake lodge is across the road.

This campground offers no privacy. We stayed at site #17. The sites are so close together that I would have a hard time telling the sites apart. The campground is located at the bottom of the entrance to Mt. Evans and beside Echo Lake. If you like to fish or hike at elevations above 10,000 feet this is the campground for you if you like privacy I would look elsewhere!
