Campground Description

Fort McAllister Historic Park is located on the banks of the Ogeechee River, south of Savannah, GA another historically enriched area. This park showcases on of the best-preserved fortifications of the Confederacy. These earthworks were attacked seven times by Union ironclads but did not fall until 1864 -- ending Gen. William T. Sherman's "March to the Sea." The park's pristine location among the ancient live oaks, Spanish moss, and marshlands are a huge attraction for campers and nature lovers. Camping, fishing, boating, hiking, biking, and picnicking are all largely popular activities at this historic park.
