Campground Description

Introduction Brighton Recreation Area provides 4,947 acres of recreation for park visitors to use. The area has a combination of high, irregular ranges of hills, interspersed with a number of attractive lakes. Oak forest, thick hedgerows and open spaces blend on the uplands while grassy marshes, shrub masses and dense swamp timber mark the lowlands.

Great camping close to the city! We stay at the Murray lake rustic site every year. DNR does patrol all of the camp grounds.

The hiking is great but the camping is cramped. The sites are really close and we ended up leaving a day early due to people being drunk and loud until 5 am. There are not any rangers on site at night to deal with people who are disrespectful in this way. Maybe we were unlucky. I am hoping winter camping will be better.
