Located within the Allegan State Game Area, Ely Lake Campground offers a quality camping experience that is located close to town but has a definite backcountry feel. Ely Lake contains 73 primitive campsites (16 of which are open to equestrian camping), vault toilets, and a swimming beach on Ely Lake. You will also find DNR Public Access sites to both Ely and Little Tom Lakes. Fishing available in both lakes. (Ely has a "no motor" rule, so bring your canoe or row boat!) Ely is open year round, so come out and enjoy some fabulous fall or winter camping! Ely also has several great trails for hiking and cross-country skiing.

About a 2 1/2 hour drive from Chicago. Backcountry camping within 15 miles from town. Hiking trails great for day hikes, backpacking, lake for swimming, stand up paddling and fishing. Water pumping station, pit toilets, no electricity, no motor policy. Bring your own solar shower.
Open year round. Great winter camping. If you're in to ice fishing, bring your portable shanty and catch some largemouth bass.
