The directions given in the basic description is for a campground on Fontana Lake. The Cheoah Point Recreation Family Area I stayed at in April'07 was about 7 miles north of Robbinsville, NC on Highway 129. A beautifully maintenanced place with tent sites ($15), camper sites with full hook-ups ($20), and furnished cabins ($35) it has 10-star restrooms/ showers. Seniors with passes get 1/2 price. The lake has over 25 primitive campsites and several marinas (including a free boat ramp and sandy beach).

This campground is great! We stayed during the October 2006 race week. The employees were so helpful and polite. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. We will return next year!

Beautiful lake and well kept camp sites. Lots of fire wood and the lake has few houses. One of the best spots in North Carolina. (that I have been to)
