The staff was so wonderful at Scotrun. I was really impressed by the older German lady who checked us in. She helped us find a site, back in and even help us with our tongue jack problems! She was an absolute delight. I am glad we went early as there was only two sites with sewer available. The site was a bit small but doable.
The negative was the gypsy moth caterpillars. They were everywhere and absolutely disgusting. To be fair, it wasn't just the campground, but the entire area. We saw many bare trees driving down the roads in the area. I stopped counting at 50 on the bottom of JUST ONE tree and they were all like that. My awning will need to be deep cleaned after being there a few days. I would never go back this time of year again for just this reason. I have caterpillar poo tracked in my tt, ground into my mat, as well as stuck all over my new trailer. SO GROSS!!
So...staff great...bugs awful. If this campground cares about their reputation and their guests they will look into spraying next year. If I go back it would definitely be in the fall, after the caterpillars are moths.
