Red Mountain Park's 1,300 acre wooded site is located 3 miles west from Birmingham's I-65 Lakeshore Parkway exit. Visitors enjoy 11 miles of walking, hiking and mountain biking trails, the Red Ore Zip Tour (a 1 ½ hour zip line adventure through the trees) and the Hugh Kaul Beanstalk Forest (a treetop course with 20 unique rope and cable challenges). Beautiful destination sites - the historic 'Redding Hoist House', the 'SkyHy Treehouse' and glimpses of iron ore mine entrances - both surprise and delight Park guests. Upon completion of Phase 2 Development in 2015, the Park will deliver 21 miles of trails; the 6-acre off-leash Remy's Dog Park; picnic pavilions; playgrounds; and a dedicated bike park.

Maps are provided at the kiosk when you arrive and the trails are very well maintained. I especially love that the trails are dog-friendly (on-leash), but I'm also able to let my dog run off-leash at Remy's Dog Park. Check out the tree houses - very cool!

We loved the variety of trail difficulty--lots of wide, flat trails for easy walking/running/biking as well as more challenging trails for variety and great exercise. We can't wait to come back to try the zip line and ropes course and bring our dogs to the dog park.

Trails are pretty and well-maintained with a Park Ranger on duty at all times. Large park with beautiful history and scenic overlooks.
