In my opinion, one of the best state parks in Colorado. Over 55 miles of trails that take you through the woods with views of Pikes Peak sneaking in here and there. There are mountain biking and horse trails (but not all of them). Elk find sanctuary here and are spotted frequently. A great place to view the aspens changing colors in late September. Contact them for a schedule of events and programs, which are plentiful in the summer. Book campsites early. Be prepared to keep your dog at the campsite. This is a wildlife viewing park and even the scent of the dogs on the trails decreases the comfort of the natural critters in the woods.
