This trail was one of the first we hiked when we moved to the Dahlonega area. Breathtaking views, and the Blood Mountain shelter is really impressive. We agree this should be considered a moderate to strenuous trail.

One of the most popular and challenging sections of the AT in Georgia. The stone Blood Mountain shelter is amazing--how did they build this thing on top of the mountain? Steep climb up from Neels Gap but worth it for the views in winter. Convenient outfitters located at Neels gap with food and equipment for hikers.

I've hiked this section more than I can count. I live in Dahlonega so the trailhead is a mere 15 miles from my home and Preacher's Rock, the amazing rock outcrop with a panoramic view, is only a mile up the trail. Perfect for a quick after-work fix!

I haven't hiked this whole section of trail, only parts of it. The main section I've done is from Neels Gap up to the top of Blood Mountain. This is one of the best hikes in all of Georgia!

We did the short hike (1 mile in, 1 mile out) to Preacher's Rock from Woody Gap yesterday. The trail was pretty easy to start with, but as it climbs the ridge it gets much steeper and rockier, but still very doable. We were amazed at the beautiful view from the top for such a short hike! No wonder this is such a popular spot!
