I hiked this in the opposite direction, from Tesnatee to Neels, for a day hike, and it was awesome. The ascent up to Cow Rock is always a tough one, but it's short too, and the views make it completely worthwhile. Basically for the rest of the time it's a ridge hike with some inclines and declines along the way. Then you finally descend into Neels Gap and literally hike into the Mountain Crossings. It's great.
All the tourists seem to be distracted with Blood Mountain, so this hike remains pretty secluded and quiet. And that right there is enough to give it a 5 star rating.
