Many excellent hiking trails to choose from with convenient access to the campground and lake. Be sure to check out the trail that rings the stone wall "fort" area at the top of the mountain. Family friendly loop options near the campground as well. Some trails can be steep and remote as you work your way out toward the park boundaries.

You could make a weekend camping trip of this. 14.5 miles of mountain bike trails and 13 miles of hiking trails. There is paddle boats, canoes, cabins, tent camping, horse trails, horse rentals, a concession stand, a beach area. It had it all from Mountain Top Hiking to flat lake loop hiking.

Tons of trails to choose from and lots to see. The fort walls were a bit disappointing but there are other trails that take you to waterfalls, abandoned mines, and scenic vistas. Backpacking is an option here but you'll need a permit.
