This area of the AT is pretty neat. Speck pond and the campground are alright--lots of leeches, and the mountains are pretty cool. But, the real attraction for this trail is the Mahoosuc Notch. The trail descends into the boulder filled notch for a mile. Hiking is slow, climbing over and under rocks, and the temperature drops about 15 degrees in the notch. Very cool and different geologically.
