Description

Mount Monadnock is one of the great classic hikes of New England, and its proximity to Brattleboro makes it an important local hike. The Marlboro Trail, starts out with easy grades, but steepens, alternating between forest pockets and open rock ledges. About a half mile from the top, the summit area (elevation 3,164' with a gain of about 1,865') comes into view, and the Dublin Trail enters from the left. The upper part of Monadnock is a fantastic expanse of bare rock, and in good weather is a great place to hang out. Descend by the same route.

Can be very crowded! White cross trail takes you straight to the top but is considered strenuous by most. Entire loop took me about 4 hours but depending on your pace can be a bit shorter or much longer (lots of scenic stops). Dont be fooled by the "false summits" here and there! Youll know when youre finally looking at the final peak. Enjoy! :)
