Numerous hiking loops close to Durham. The Cox Mountain loop has some pretty significant elevation changes throughout. The Ridge Trail and Holden's Mill trail give you great views of the river and Bobbitt's Hole trail is fun as well. Drive down Sparger to Howe Street to access the Cabe Lands Trail and the old quarry swimming area.
Trail length: 8 miles

Fun place for day hikes. Several different trails to try out. Easy to navigate, mountain and river scenery.

Nice trails. Well marked and a decent map can be picked up at the office. Only spent a few hours there but had a really good time
