Description

There is a viewing platform with a short walk from US Highway 19, just 1.5 miles south of the Blue Ridge Parkway (at Soco Gap at Milepost 455.7). There is a small roadside parking area and is easily missed since there is no sign! You can hear the falls from the roadside parking. There are small blue "Soco Falls" signs about 1/3 mile from the parking area (that say 1/2 mile ahead). The trail starts at the break in the guard rail.

What an amazing treat this waterfall was. There was snow on the ground and we came upon people pulled over in the gravel so we followed their que. Thankfully it was Soco Falls they were looking at. Not only could you get a good look from the Highway but once you walk down the less then 1 mile hike you come upon a viewing deck. It was snowing and very muddy so we did not use the ropes to go down to the bottom of the falls. A very beautiful fall it was.
