Mostly rocky trail conditions, be sure to take advantage of the intermittent smooth trail patches that make up less than 25% of this hike. Rolling terrain, gently sloping up and down except for one 250 foot climb midway through the hike, and then again at the end, when the trail makes an ever-steeper-as-you-go 1000 foot descent into Port Clinton. Trail treasures as you proceed include an embedded rock formation shaped like the AT symbol to ensure you doesn't miss a sharp turn, thigh-high fields of fern, acres of fruiting raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries, the Auburn and Eagle's Nest overlooks, and of course, endless rocks. Total time to hike this at an enjoyable pace: approximately 8 hours.
