We stayed on site 114. It was pretty secluded. I'd check out the map before booking if you are looking for privacy as a lot of the sites at the beginning are very close together.

Huntington is a great place to camp. Nice sites, clean bathrooms. Great to be so close to the beach. Even in the winter, it's nice to go for a stroll :) Atalaya Castle (on state park grounds) is a fun place to check out & very affordable. ($2) The campsites are far enough from the road that you don't hear traffic, but close enough to town that it is very convenient to go out if you forget something. (Or if raccoons scavenge your cooler during the night & you have to go find breakfast!! Lol.) The coons are bad here so make sure you take the correct precautions in securing any & all food. They ate an entire pack of bacon & all of our eggs!!! Applewood House of Pancakes is a great place to grab some grub if you need to though. There are a lot of local diners & restaurants if you don't feel like cooking... although I feel as though that's one of the best parts of camping! I would highly recommend checking out Brookgreen Gardens as well. If you visit during December, make sure you go check out Brookgreen's Night of a Thousand Candles. It is GORGEOUS. Kid friendly event, or great for a romantic night out
All in all, love Huntington Beach & will certainly be back. Was this helpful?
