Hard to believe that this park is so close to the capitol city of South Carolina...and this isn't a city park, either! Nope, this is a state park with camping, hiking, biking, fishing, bird watching...and relaxing. Very nice!
The 5 mile trail that Singletracks has listed here is the Bike Trail, which starts at the Retreat Center. The trail follows Loop Road for a while and then goes into the woods as a nice single-track before it comes back to Loop Road at nearly the same place it left it. The single-track portion of the trail, which is most of it's 6.1-mile length (not 5-miles), goes through pine forest and scrub understory. The track is almost always dry, even after heavy rains, and is only moderately challenging.
Many other biking and hiking opportunities exist at Sesquicentennial State Park. 4 trails total.
