A great trail to do some bike riding, running, or strolling. The buttermilk trail runs right alongside the James River so you have canoe/kayak launches and ramps, swimming areas out on the rocks, even historical bell isle at the trailhead. Truly an awesome trail that starts at the city.
You can park at the Tredeger street public parking area or at the Tredegar ironworks museum (for a fee). From there, you will take the Robert E. Lee bridge pedestrian underpass to getto belle isle. Once you get off the bridge, if you follow the trail that's in front of you until you see this rusty old (kinda sketchy) bridge. Cross the bridge and your there!
